How does online drivers ed work? |
|
Just create an account (it takes less than a minute), and you’re all set to start our approved California drivers ed course. You can pay right away or try up to 20% of the course for free. Either way, you’re on the road to completing your California drivers education.
Log in and out whenever you want; from any Internet-connected computer. When you log back in, we’ll take you to the exact place you left off. Compare that to spending your weekends in a classroom!
There will be a final exam, but don’t worry—you can take it as many times as you need and review the course material as much as you want. Once you pass the test, we’ll mail your Certificate of Completion within 1 business day. Shipment by USPS First Class Mail is free, but you can always upgrade the delivery method. |

Who needs to take California drivers education? |
|
If you’re between 15 ½ and 17 ½ years old and want to get a California learners permit (provisional instruction permit), you’ll need to complete a DMV-approved drivers education course.
DriversEd.com’s online course is DMV-approved and fulfills the California drivers education requirement for new drivers under 17. But no matter how old you are, if you want to learn about driving in California and plan to obtain a California drivers license, you can take this course. |

What exactly is drivers education and drivers training? |
|
Drivers Education is a class that teaches you the rules of the road, vehicle safety, etc., so you’re ready to pass your written permit test. Our California drivers education course is DMV-approved so new drivers under 17 ½ can complete their class entirely online.
Drivers Training is the in-car driving lessons with a licensed driving instructor. In California, if you are under 17 ½, you must enroll in 6 hours of drivers training to take the learners permit (provisional instruction permit) written test and complete those 6 hours to take your road test later on. |

Can I try the California course before I have to pay? |

How long will it take for me to finish the course? |
|
That depends on your individual pace. In California, all drivers education courses must be at least 30 hours. The good news is that with DriversEd.com, you can always go at your pace and log in and out at your convenience. Think how fast time flies if you do 20 minutes here and there! |

How do I access the 50 free practice permit tests? |
|
After payment, your free practice permit tests will become accessible from your online DriversEd.com account. |

When will I receive my Certificate of Completion? |
|
After you complete the DriversEd.com course, we will mail your Certificate of Completion for free and within 1 business day. All certificates are mailed via First Class Mail by default. First Class Mail takes about 2-3 business days.
If you need your certificate faster, you can upgrade to FedEx shipping for an additional charge.

Can I get my Certificate of Completion faster? |

How do I get another copy of my Certificate of Completion? |
|
If you lose your certificate, you can simply request a duplicate in your DriversEd.com account. Under your certificate delivery details, there will be a link to request a duplicate certificate. |

Will I need to take drivers training after this course? |
|
California law requires all new drivers under 17 ½ take at least 6 hours of drivers training (behind-the-wheel instruction). What is drivers training?
After you complete our online drivers education course, you’ll need to sign up with an approved driving school. To take your instruction permit written test, you’ll need the Certificate of Completion you receive from DriversEd.com and proof ofenrollment in drivers training. |

DriversEd.com will issue a full tuition refund if you have not completed the California course and a Certificate of Completion has not been mailed.
DriversEd.com will not issue refunds if you’ve completed the online course and a Certificate of Completion has been mailed.
