this comment is for jennifer. as the instructor who told his student to warn you that he was passing you to your right, was the right thing to do!if i remember correct you were to the left of me as we were approuching from behind! my student asked me, what to do when theres a bike in front of you wobbling side to side in and out of the lane and so little space and there not looking at you! i told her to slow the car down and when your four cars behind, tap the horn once to warn them that your coming from behind!so she did and you paid her no mind!she did it again on her own and i told her to stop!that once was enough!the point of the first horn was to secure the pass by letting them know your there! when you asked me why the honking!i told you the law reguires a motorist to warn a pedestrian in your path if there not looking in your direction getting close to a driving lane you suppose to warn with a tap or the horn! rules are rules.

Today I was biking in a bike lane and someone was rudely honking at me. Then a Sharkey's car passed me. At the red light I told the instructor to not honk at bikes and he said that they had to. Honking at bicyclists for no reason is just startling and rude. What else do you learn to do at Sharkey's? Park in the bike lane? They say it's the law for car drivers to always honk at bicyclists when you approach them but in fact the law says to honk when necessary (http://www.safeny.com/bike-vt.htm#sec1146). I would hardly call it necessary to scare me with honking while I'm riding in a bike lane with traffic. Please find another driving school, one that teaches how to share the road with others.
