How does online traffic school work? |
|
The process is simple. Create an account by choosing a username and password. In a few minutes, you’ll be all set to start your online traffic school course. You can make a payment at any time or pay just before your final exam. Either way, you’ll be on the road to clearing your driving record.
Your traffic school is available online 24/7. That means you can log in and out whenever you want and from any computer that has Internet access! When you log back in, we’ll take you back to the exact place you left off. Doesn’t that sound better than spending your weekends in a classroom?
At the end of the course there will be an online final exam. Don’t worry—you can take it as many times as you need in order to pass. Once you pass the test, we’ll notify your court electronically of your course completion—no paperwork required. |

How does in-class traffic school work? |
|
Easy. Create an account by choosing a username and password (you need to have an online account in order for us to be able to notify your court electronically once you complete your traffic school). You can then choose the language in which you would like take the class along with the date and time of the course.
After completing payment, your seat in the class will be reserved, and you’ll be on the road to clearing your driving record! At the end of the course there will be a quick final exam, then you're done. We’ll notify your court electronically of your course completion—no paperwork required. |

Why should I take traffic school? |
|
If you get a ticket, traffic school keeps that ticket off your driving record, so you can avoid getting a point. This keeps your insurance rates from rising—which is good for your wallet. Lastly, traffic school is a great way to learn defensive driving skills in order to become a better driver. |

How do I take traffic school? |
|
If you’ve just received your citation, you’ll need to wait for your courtesy notice to arrive in the mail. The notice will have the option to pay for your ticket as well as pay the court-required administrative fee that will qualify you to take traffic school. Once you’ve paid for your ticket and the administrative fee (listed on your courtesy notice), the court will issue you an Agreement to Attend Driver Improvement School so you can sign up for traffic school. |

Where can I attend traffic school? |
|
If you received your citation in Santa Clara County and want to attend traffic school online or in class, the Santa Clara County Superior Court will only accept Certificates of Completion from DriversEd.com. |

When do I have to complete traffic school by? |
|
Your Agreement to Attend Driver Improvement School, which is issued to you by the court, will list the date by which you will need to complete traffic school.
Once you’ve paid for your ticket and the court-imposed administrative fee to take traffic school, the court will issue you your Agreement to Attend Driver Improvement School that qualifies you for traffic school. |

My traffic school due date is tomorrow. Can I still take this course? |
|
Yes, but you'll need to complete this six-hour course and pass the online final test on or before your traffic school due date.
At this point, we recommend getting an extension on your due date to give yourself more time. Please contact your court for an extension because DriversEd.com cannot extend your traffic school due date. If you’re not sure when your due date is, please contact your court to verify the date. |

How long is the DriversEd.com traffic school course? |
|
By law the online course is a minimum of 8 hours, but how long the course actually takes will vary depending on your individual pace. With our online traffic school, there are no time restrictions. That means you can always go at your pace and log in and out whenever you want. Think how fast time can fly if you do 20 minutes here and there!
The in-class course is 8 hours long. You can take an 8-hour session in one day or two 4-hour sessions spread over two consecutive days. And not to worry, you’ll be given breaks, including a lunch break for the 8-hour course. |

Is there a time limit for the online course? |
|
There’s no time limit for taking the online traffic school course (other than your traffic school due date). The whole point of our online traffic school is to give students the flexibility to take the course on their own time. You can log in and out whenever you want and when you return, we’ll bring you right back to where you left off. |

What languages can I take the online class in? |
|
We offer online traffic school in English, Spanish, and in Vietnamese. Our in-class course, depending on location, is offered in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Sign Language. |

How do I take the final exam for the online course? |
|
At the end of the course, you’ll take an online final exam (the price of which is included in your course fee). After you pass, we’ll update your account and notify your court electronically of your course completion and to update your driving record.
Note: the in-class course final exam will be administered at the end of your class. |

What if I don't pass my final exam the first time? |
|
No problem. You can retake the online final exam as many times as you need free of charge. |

What if I’m late to my in-class course? |
|
It is very important that you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the class start time. If you are late you will not be allowed to participate and will need to reschedule. If you’ve missed your scheduled in-class traffic school, you can reschedule by logging into your DriversEd.com account.
If you’re finding it hard to fit an in-class course into your schedule, you might want to switch to the online course, which you can take wherever and whenever it's convenient for you. |

When will I receive my Certificate of Completion? |
|
Whether you take our online or in-class course, we’ll send your Certificate of Completion to the Santa Clara Court electronically. You don’t need to deliver anything to the court.
If you take the online course and would like a copy of your course completion for your records, you can print a copy for your records from your account. Note that the court will not accept this copy as proof of traffic school completion.
If you take the in-class classroom course, we will give you a copy of your Certificate of Completion after the class. |

Why do I need an online account if I am taking the in-class course? |
|
We notify the court electronically of students’ course completions, so we need you to have an online account (registration). Also, some students have difficulty finding an in-class course that works with their schedule. Having a username and password is a precaution in case you decide to switch to the online course. |

Where do I find my Court Docket, Ticket, Case, or Citation number? |
|
You can find this information on your Agreement to Attend Driver Improvement School. This information will go on your Certificate of Completion, so double check to be sure it is entered correctly. An incorrect entry may cause your certificate to be delayed, lost, or rendered invalid by your court. |

What if I haven’t received my Agreement to Attend Driver Improvement School? |
|
If you’ve just received your citation, please wait for your courtesy notice to arrive in the mail. The notice will have the option to pay off your ticket as well as pay the court-required administrative fee that will qualify you to take traffic school.

|
The fee you paid the court was a court-required administrative fee that qualifies you to take traffic school. DriversEd.com, along with all other traffic schools, has its own course fee that is separate from the court’s fees. |

For both the online and in-class course, you can pay online using a credit card, Paypal, check, or money order. You can also pay by credit card when you call our customer service at 1-877-233-3977.
Please note that prepaid debit/gift cards issued by VISA, MasterCard, American Express, etc. cannot be used online. Please call us, and we'll be happy to process your payment.
